Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Dry those teary eyes. This innovative chopper dices onions quickly, efficiently and in one swift motion! Press down on the lid and the durable stainless steel blades do the rest, sending perfectly diced onion into the clear plastic storage container.

Amazon.com Review
Work smarter, not harder with Progressive International's helpful onion chopper. Just slice an onion in two, set half on the stainless-steel blade, then close the hinged plastic lid. Voila! Dice onions without all the mess, odor, or time-consuming cleanup. The reinforced storage container is clear so it's easy to see how much you've chopped, and measurements up to two cups are printed on the sides. The compact tool stands on four round feet that keep it secure on the countertop or table. When the top is closed, the blade is protected and safely away from a busy chef's hands. This chopper stores easily in a drawer and comes with a tool to clean the lid easily. --Kara Karll

5 out of 5 stars I have every expensive kitchen gadget. Of all . . .   March 4, 2010
NYOD (Oneida, NY USA)
I don't own a kitchen gadget that is equal to this -- for the money. It takes a few cuts to figure out a good size to cut. I cut the onion in half on a bias(a more wedge-shaped piece than a symmetrical half, or quarter) so that the angular point-of-attack on the onion is a broader surface area. One quick pop downward and dicing is quick and perfect. I cut pieces of bell peppers and carrots and mushrooms and celery in the same way. For a long-cooking recipe requiring garlic, I cut cloves in half length-wise and pop-dice them.

The uniformity of the cut is perfect for salsas, dips, stuffing and salads like tuna salad. The quantity is measured in cups on the side. Critical for quick cleanup is the little fork that fits between the teeth on the lid. Keep up with that. I lost mine and have to clean with a knife blade -- definitely not as convenient.

This little gadget handles the dicing of most vegetables, with more attractive results, than any kitchen tool I have -- and I have a huge, well-equipped, "commercial" kitchen.

5 out of 5 stars Works great, if you know a few tricks   March 4, 2010
Very satisfied user (Charlotte, NC United States)
To respond to a few other reviews, first, I don't try to push on top to chop, I make a fist and pop it down (on the side of my fist, not a punch like you are punching someone in the face). It has worked every time.
Second, I slice the onion in half from tip to root(or somtimes slice from tip to root a few times if I want a really fine dice) and put the sliced side face down on the blades.
Third, as for cleaning the white top, if you keep it submerged in water and use the cleaning tool, the top cleans easily (I pull the tool in a couple of different directions to get everything out). Keeping the top submerged while cleaning is the trick. Hope this helps.

5 out of 5 stars Progressive Onion Chopper   February 15, 2010
Horst Truestedt (Pine Island, MN United States)
Although called "Onion Chopper" it works very well with most vegetables. We have had one for several years and cooking has never been easier. We bought two more of these for our daughters.

4 out of 5 stars very useful thing   February 13, 2010

it is the second one I am buying. It is great for cutting vegetables, but not very strong for the onions (that is why 4 on the rating). But for the price of $15 it is a wonder! Recommend!
