SAFETY FLAW! January 5, 2009 I. Collard So I love the ease in which the stroller moves, but there is a serious safety flaw! The breaks do not work! I found this out on a hill, which was no fun. We ordered this stroller last week and it arrived timely, we put it together (with horrid instructions) and realized there was no break bar. There were only two break pads (one on each wheel). However, the break pads have holes in them where there should be a bar. We figured that they must have left this out of our package. As they were closed over the weekend, we took it out for a spin. I pushed the right break pad and it looked as if it locked. Before I could get my foot to the other side, the stroller started rolling down the hill with my five-month old daughter in it!
I called InSTEP as soon as they opened and informed them of this missing part. They informed me that this is a design change and they did away with the bar. WHAT??? This is a safety change, not a design change. They are clearly cutting corners here, to the detriment of the safety of our wee ones! They didn't change the break pads (as they still have the holes) to use them without the bar, they just stopped providing a bar. There is even a strap that should be attached to the missing bar. Jan at InSTEP said they stopped including them two years ago and she doesn't know why. STOP CUTTING CORNERS TO PAD YOUR WALLETS INSTEP AT THE COST OF SAFETY!!!
Love it! January 1, 2009 Maddie's Mommy (Michigan) This stroller is great! It's the perfect size and fits easily in the trunk of my car. The seat seems roomy and comfortable and it turns extremely well. It was super easy to put together which is always a bonus.
Great Product November 13, 2008 Smith Family (nj) Great product just need to lock the wheel when you run/jog. They really should make the sunshade larger. (Just bought an attachment for the shade and it is great).
Wonderful Stroller! October 3, 2008 Jennifer A. Kocsis (lvyjenn) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Absolutely awesome stroller. My husband and I run with this stroller practically everyday and our 7 month old son loves it. I was a little worried about the buckle being uncomfortable but my son doesn't seem to mind and will sit in it for over an hour. He seems to enjoy the running a lot more than walking!
The stroller was shipped promptly and was fairly easy to put together. The handle had a few little tears which was disappointing but we've had it for over a month and the tears have not gotten any bigger. I really like the yellow lining because it is a bit reflective and the swivel wheel is amazing. I am so glad that I did not buy a cheaper stroller WITHOUT the swivel wheel because it makes manueuvering that much easier. I would buy this stroller again!
Good Stroller for the Price September 24, 2008 C. Mayer (Ashburn, VA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this stroller after looking for a single jogger/all-terrain stroller for a while. I had a double InStep for years but only needed a single one now.
It was very easy to put together. I know there were some reviews that had issues with the front tire but, it works just like any standard quick release tire that would be on a decent bicycle.
I got the chocolate/blue color one and I will say the color looked nicer online. Also the handle did come a little scratched up but it is not worth returning it for something so minor when it will probably end up getting like that anyways.
My old stroller was a fixed wheel so the swivel was a little strange at first. I think it is best to lock the wheel as fixed if you are going to be walking long distances at a quick pace like on a trail. However, if you are indoors or need to do a lot of turning, set it to swivel. So far it seems fine. My toddler seems to enjoy it.
I do wish they had a hand break and a deeper drink holder in the parent console.
