Good commuter option; solid scooter for adults December 2, 2008 Mgazon I wanted a kick scooter for my commute, to speed me from car to train, metro to work. It needed to support a 5'11" guy with only moderate balance, and it needed to fold up small for the train. The Razor Pro scooter does all this.
The handle extends much higher than shown; probably high enough for someone taller than 6'2". The footboard is big enough for 1 foot, really, but your other foot will be busy elsewhere.
It also arrived intact and was easy to assemble. The only "problem" was a slightly misaligned grippy sticker that might make the points of tape tear off later, but that's not even on a place I'll ever set my foot.
I took off 1 star b/c Razor is so successful at failing to tell commuters how to ride it :-). If you watch their stunt videos carefully, you can spot a couple seconds of wheels on the ground. But after thunking your own ankle a couple times I think you'll get it, too.
Just so you don't fool yourself: * this is largely useless going up hill. Duh. * Your standing leg will get tired, not your pushing leg. * If you don't use common sense, you will probably fall (I haven't, yet).
But it's very easy to transition from riding downhill or over flats to walking, and it packs up very tight for crowded train & subway rides.
So: $45 was great for a stop-gap until I splurge on a folding bike.
Incorrect assembly instructions and parts November 24, 2008 Betsy (Natick, MA United States) This would have been a great purchase with the exception that once I got it, I got out the instructions, which seemed easy enough but could not fit the rod into the bottom, no matter what I did. I broke a sweat for 40 minutes before calling customer support. After being on hold for 20 minutes, the woman informed me that there is a known problem with this scooter that there is an incorrect part and that she was going to email me new instructions for putting it together and that it if I could not get the rod in, she'd send me a new rod which did not have the problem. I was astounded that the company would knowingly sell the product with a part that was defective and said so to the representative. She informed me that since the part did not present a safety issue, it was not recalled. She did apologize for the inconvenience. Crazy. Once it was finally put together, I am enjoying it, but I would not ever purchase again.
scooter review November 19, 2008 R. Yocum (lake tahoe,ca) this is a good product and the best price you will find, believe me, I have bought about 40 of them for my son. A+
Worth it November 10, 2008 The KG One (Central PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've use this scooter for transportation from my old parking lot to work, about a mile each way on sometimes-messed-up concrete. It's held up well, and I love it. It's stable, fast, and folds up very compactly. If you're going to get a scooter for something more than just playing around in the driveway, this is the one to get.
Get one for the husband, too! November 10, 2008 Nancy (Washington DC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
WE bought this for my daughter as our church was giving us a shower for her little, just adopted sister. We wanted her to get something fun, too. We bought the pro because of the higher weight limit - in case her dad wanted to take a spin on it. We're very glad we did!! It's very worth the little extra money.
Boy, is it ever fun - really awesome - glides so smoothly, steers so well. I'm back on line to buy my husband one for Christmas, he's used our daughters even to run down to the neighbors house with something they needed to borrow. He loves it!
