When a special effect turns Tosha's bedroom closet into a stairwell of a pirate ship, the viewer knows this will be a different Barney experience. Tosha and Min and their lumbering dinosaur guide climb aboard to join Baby Bop, B.J., and the boys on a journey to the titular island. After a hearty land-ho, Barney and the kids explore the island, stopping along the way to turn tree branches, starfish, and clams into percussion instruments and break out in song. They stumble onto a thatched cottage, and its owner, Professor Tinkerputt, invites them in to look, but not touch, the beautiful toys he makes for himself. The gang turns the professor's life around by teaching him about sharing and he decides to join them on their journey home in order to give his toys to children. On the scale of adult irritation, this fanciful Barney installment ranks surprisingly low. Older children who have outgrown some of the more lesson-oriented tapes in the series may even find themselves watching this one with their younger siblings. (Ages 1-8) --Kimberly Heinrichs
Description
A storybook adventure comes to life when Tosha and Min discover that their wish to sail on a ship to Imagination Island is possible with a little help from Barney! On board, they are surprised to find Baby Bop™, BJ™, Shawn and Derek. Suddenly a giant wave strands the ship atop a group of palm trees. As the crew explores the jungle island they meet Professor Tinkerputt - a toy inventor who doesn't want anyone to play with his toys. Can Barney and his friends show the professor that good things happen when you share?

I have an 11 year old and a 21 month old. My 11 year old used to be a big Barney fan. Now my daughter is a Barney fan. I was shopping for new videos for my daughter and imagine my surprise when I came across the movie Imagination Island. This hands down was one of my sons favorite Barney videos when he was little. He had a ton of them so this along with a couple other ones stick out in my mind since he loved them so much. I no longer have the video so I am ordering it again for my daughter.

We originally bought this tape 10 years ago for my son. My youngest daughter is 2 and this is also her absolute favorite. When the tape wore out, we had not choice but to order another. It is hands down Barneys best full length show.
The older Barney shows just teach so much!!!

My toddler granddaughter loves this Barney video just like she does all the other Barney videos, but I even enjoy this one. If I were a little kid, this is the one that I would watch over and over....in fact, I have...but with my granddaughter, of course. The make-believe part where the kids and Barney journey by ship to Imagination Island is perfect! It reminds me of the old Storybook Land that used to sit where DFW airport is now. This is a very charming video that kids up to the age of 10 are sure to enjoy.
