Love the coffee, the descriptions on the page are misleading August 7, 2006 R. Walrath (Dededo, GU United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Received the Kronung today, and love it... however was VERY suprised to see 250 g (8 ounce) packages when the product features and description indicated it was the 500 g (17 oz) package. Elsewhere, you finally see an 8 ounce indication. The web page description is very misleading. That's why it was cheaper than the commissary.
best coffee ever July 31, 2006 Renee L. Nona (hebron, ky United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was introduced to Jacobs while stationed in Germany in the U.S. Army. Not only does Jacobs have a great, robust flavor but it gives you that extra kick to jump start your morning that is a little stronger than any American coffee that I have found. Unlike espresso however, it does not give you that jumpy, nervous feeling. You don't have to use as much in your coffee maker so therefore being a good value for your money.
Smooth tasting coffee July 9, 2006 Can-Can (United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I first sampled the taste of Jacob's coffee when a friend brought a bag back from Germany for me to try. From that point on, I was hooked. The coffee grounds aren't like most coffee grounds, as they're fine as flour. Like German's chocolate being smooth tasting like silk, so, too, is the taste of their coffee. No, the bags don't come with a scoop, so you have to experiment as to how much to add to your coffee filter. But once you figure out how much to add to your filter, it's hard going back to anything else.
Simply The Best! June 6, 2006 JDavis (Austin, TX United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We found Jacobs Kronung coffee in 1991 when we visited our son stationed in Bitburg Germany. They don't drink coffee so we had to find coffee and visited a local grocery store. The rich green bag looked inviting. We don't speak or read German and in the States, a green bag denotes decaffeinated but we decided to give it a try anyway and were we ever happy we did. Jacobs Kronung coffee is a fine ground coffee and it took several tries to get just the right amount but it was wonderful. We loved it! (And we were hooked!)
We mailed several bags home before we left Germany and then hunted for places in the States to buy more. Once in awhile we would find Jacobs in the Air Force Commissary but it was not a given that we could find it regularly. (We did ask our son to send more from time to time as a special treat.)
We've tried several of the blends but prefer the Kronung blend. Jacob's Meisterroestung is stronger and the Night and Day is a decaf version. I was surprised when Jacobs was purchased by Kraft, which shows they know a good product too. Thanks to the Internet, Jacobs Kronung Coffee is easily found and the price here on Amazon is the cheapest I've found.
My daughter-in-law just gave us a Frieling Stainless Steel 35-Ounce French Press from Amazon and I'm going to buy the Jacobs Kronung beans because I KNOW it will make a super combination.
Try it! If you like a wonderfully flavorful coffee at a bargain price, you won't be sorry!
