Purple Pebble is a Pleasure to Play January 3, 2009

Purchased this player in purple as a gift for my granddaughter. Upon arrival (very fast) I charged the player (self charges via USB-headphonejack adapter)and downloaded some music for her using the same adapter. Super sound from the headset that includes a lanyard as part of the headset making it a perfectly cute pebble looking piece of jewelry as well as player. An extra pin on the plug attaches the player and headset securely together (you can also attach a separate fine necklace for added security).
The LED readout (colors as opposed to data) appears to magically glow from within the Pebble.
Downloaded the software from Emodio that is included in the package, but found that when Sync'ing the music the Windows Media Player v 11 does a better job of installing new music.
Please note that Music subscription services (renting the music as opposed to buying the track) are not compatible with this unit.
Small, very highly polished finish, super sound with sound profiles....She is please with this little gem! So am I :o}

No matter what anyone says, the Pebble does NOT work with a Mac. Also, Samsung customer support was very unhelpful. Finally, per another review, the instruction book is indeed illegible.

I love this player. It's super small (but sturdy so you don't feel like you'll snap it in two), very aesthetically pleasing (it fits in your hand very nicely in addition to looking nice on its own), and yes, MAC COMPATIBLE. On OSX it shows up as an external drive and it's just drag and drop and you're ready to go. The sound quality is no different than my 80GB iPod Classic and the controls are very easy to use. Unlike with a lot of other LCD-less players, I don't feel like it's a horrible loss here. I Definitely prefer it to an iPod Shuffle. Finally, the DNSe sound options are fun to play with and definitely improve the sound of some of my songs, but easy enough to turn off for the ones that they don't.

The instruction booklet is so poorly produced that the instructions can't be read without a lot of eye strain. Even with magnification they are barely intelligible. Maybe they ran out of ink when they were printed the booklet I received. This is the first thing a new customer needs to see and they can't print a decent copy for us? Then the update software message notifies me that there is an update to the their studio but when I ask to download the updates it fails. Repeatedly. I've owned a Sansa before (stolen) and I wish I would have gone back to that brand. I had that up and running in minutes.
